Ambassador Foods, LLC obsesses around one simple idea: be the kind of partner customers can count on when the stakes are high and time is tight. In food distribution, that promise gets tested every day. Orders shift. Supply changes. A customer needs something yesterday. And the companies that earn loyalty are the ones who find a way to say “yes” more often than not.
“I think our secret sauce really is the idea of making things happen,” says Opher Yunger, COO and one of Ambassador Foods’ three partners. “A lot of companies will tell you they make things happen, but our ability to make it happen at a fast pace is what differentiates us.”
That mindset shows up throughout the business. Ambassador Foods is a master distributor, serving food distributors across South Florida and is expanding into markets including California and New York. They run lean, and have grown rapidly through organic customer wins, a broader product selection, and, as Opher describes it, a relentless commitment to service.
It’s also why, when their ERP technology stopped keeping up with how food distribution actually works, they moved quickly. Ambassador Foods didn’t have the luxury of a slow transition. They needed a system that could handle the complexity of real-world food inventory and pricing, protect customer service, and give the team confidence in the numbers behind every order.
CATCH WEIGHT EXPOSES GAPS IN ERP
Ambassador Foods had been running a leading ERP application, and in many ways, it served them well. But one gap became impossible to work around: catch weight management.
In food distribution, you don’t always sell a perfectly consistent item. You may purchase a case of product, but the weight varies from unit to unit. A wheel of cheese is a classic example: you might buy three wheels, each weighing something different. When your ERP can’t properly manage that reality, inventory accuracy becomes a daily struggle, and the ripple effects hit purchasing, fulfillment, margin, and customer service.
For Ambassador Foods, that problem wasn’t occasional. The software could track pounds, but Ambassador needed to manage cases and variable-weight items together, something their ERP simply could not do. The result was constant reconciliation, and inventory that never fully matched reality.
“For years, inventory was never accurate,” Opher explains. They explored modifications and add-ons, but it was clear that any fix would be a bandage. As the business scaled, they needed an ERP built to handle the way food moves. Timing mattered, too. They were approaching another pricey subscription renewal, and the cost of waiting was real. Ambassador Foods needed to make a decision quickly and execute fast, without disrupting operations.
THE RIGHT FIT: ACUMATICA PLUS PRIME
Ambassador Foods began evaluating alternatives and eventually connected with Acumatica. From there, they were introduced to Net at Work and Prime Food Service software.
Prime Food Service is a solution from Net at Work that pairs with Acumatica to create a true food distribution ERP solution, including catch weight, purchasing, pricing complexity, and industry-specific processes. Acumatica plus Prime Food Service would provide the modern cloud ERP foundation, purpose built for food distributors.
Just as important, Net at Work brought an implementation team that understood the urgency and the industry. Opher has been through ERP projects before and knows what a fast implementation demands: focused leadership, disciplined execution, and real partnership between the implementation team and the business.
IMPLEMENTATION AT FULL SPEED
Ambassador Foods and Net at Work completed the migration in roughly four months and went live at the end of August 2025. For context, Opher notes that ERP implementations commonly take eight to nine months or more. Ambassador Foods didn’t have that runway.
They handled the transition with a tight overlap period, dual entry, and constant verification to keep orders flowing. “All of this happened like changing tires on a semi going 100 mph,” Opher says. “We couldn’t stop, and Net at Work helped us stay in our lane.”
At most, they could afford about three days without orders. So the team did what they always do: they found a way to make it happen. Opher credits his internal team, especially leaders across customer service, accounting, and operations, for being deeply involved and prepared, and he credits Net at Work for matching that pace with hands-on support when it mattered.
During discovery, key Net at Work resources spent time on-site to fully understand how Ambassador Foods operates, so they could strategically configure the software to match.
A NEW LEVEL OF CONFIDENCE
For Ambassador Foods, one of the most significant outcomes is also one of the most practical: they no longer have to manually adjust inventory every day just to keep the system aligned with reality. “This alone saves us nearly two hours a day,” says Opher.
Previously, they could have cases on hand while the pounds showed zero, forcing constant corrections. That kind of work drains time and creates uncertainty. With Acumatica ERP for food distribution, the organization can manage catch weight properly and trust what the system says.
That confidence matters beyond operations. It improves communication with warehouses and 3PL partners, supports better purchasing decisions, and reduces friction across the order lifecycle. It also protects the customer experience because when the back office is confident in inventory and order status, the front office can move faster and respond with clarity.
Opher also sees value in the way the platform sets them up for better insight. He relies on it for visibility into what’s moving, what’s working, and where the business can improve. The company is preparing to expand its use of the business intelligence capabilities within Acumatica to bring key metrics closer to the surface, especially for sales.
REAL OPERATIONAL SAVINGS
The benefits aren’t abstract. Ambassador Foods expects meaningful time savings in several areas: They’re streamlining commission calculations using functionality in Prime Food Service. Previously, commissions were calculated manually every quarter, consuming several hours of Opher’s time. They’re also moving toward monthly commissions, which can improve visibility and generate additional time-saving efficiencies.
They’re investing in automation because staying lean is part of the strategy. Ambassador Foods doesn’t want growth to automatically mean headcount. They want technology to free their people up for the work only humans can do: building relationships, solving customer problems, and moving fast when things change.
Looking ahead, Opher is especially interested in what Acumatica’s AI capabilities will unlock and how automation could reduce repetitive tasks, such as importing purchase orders. He’s also focused on improving forecasting and reducing lost sales. With cleaner data and the right tools, the company sees an opportunity to spot patterns, identify drop-offs, and act sooner.
PARTNER HANDLES THE HEAVY LIFTING
Ask Opher what made the difference in this project, and he comes back to partnership and pace — both with Net at Work and across Ambassador Foods’ own customer service, accounting, and operations teams. Ambassador Foods moves fast, and downtime is expensive. They need a team that treated urgency the same way they do.
“Net at Work is service-oriented the way we are,” says Opher. “We move fast. Downtime is expensive, and they get that. When we need something, they pick up and help us through it. That kind of support has enormous value.”
Ambassador Foods plans to keep improving how they operate, adding capabilities as the business grows, and continuing to invest in technology that supports customers and employees.
With Acumatica ERP for food distribution in place, and Net at Work as the partner behind it, they now have the foundation to scale without losing what made Ambassador Foods successful in the first place: a culture built on doing right by people, and making things happen.
